00:00:08.740 --> 00:00:13.590
Hi, my name is Burl Goree and I am the Field
Computing Integration and Support team leader

00:00:13.590 --> 00:00:15.119
for Water Mission Area.

00:00:15.119 --> 00:00:21.460
In this video I will cover the installation
of SWAMI on a Windows Mobile PDA.

00:00:21.460 --> 00:00:27.070
The requirements for installing SWAMI are:
A PDA with Windows Mobile 5.0 or newer operating

00:00:27.070 --> 00:00:32.689
system and a desktop or laptop PC connected
to the USGS intranet.

00:00:32.689 --> 00:00:37.390
You will also need to have the Windows Mobile
Device Center software installed on the PC

00:00:37.390 --> 00:00:42.320
or use another method to copy the installation
file to the PDA.

00:00:42.320 --> 00:00:46.530
First we need to download the installation
file from the SWAMI website using Internet

00:00:46.530 --> 00:00:48.000
Explorer.

00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:53.100
You will notice that there are several versions
of SWAMI that are split into two groups, stable

00:00:53.100 --> 00:00:55.570
versions and all versions.

00:00:55.570 --> 00:01:00.500
Unless you are participating in testing, you
should select the latest stable version.

00:01:00.500 --> 00:01:03.049
Click on the link to download the file.

00:01:03.049 --> 00:01:07.380
You will be prompted to save the file.

00:01:07.380 --> 00:01:14.990
Choose "Save As", select your downloads folder
and click save.

00:01:14.990 --> 00:01:19.560
Next we will need to copy the file from our
PC to the PDA.

00:01:19.560 --> 00:01:22.120
Open Windows Explorer on the PC.

00:01:22.120 --> 00:01:27.590
If your PDA is connected you should be able
to select it in the left pane and expand it.

00:01:27.590 --> 00:01:31.180
Copy the file from the downloads folder to
the PDA.

00:01:31.180 --> 00:01:35.789
We will place it in the "My Device" folder
by dropping it on the root drive and clicking

00:01:35.789 --> 00:01:38.530
copy here.

00:01:38.530 --> 00:01:42.999
Now we will switch to the PDA to complete
the installation.

00:01:42.999 --> 00:01:48.399
On the PDA, open File Explorer and navigate
to the folder where you copied the SWAMI.cab

00:01:48.399 --> 00:01:49.399
file.

00:01:49.399 --> 00:01:54.630
In this case it's your "My Device" folder.

00:01:54.630 --> 00:01:56.990
Tap on the SWAMI.cab file.

00:01:56.990 --> 00:02:00.950
When prompted you should choose "install to
device" and click ok.

00:02:00.950 --> 00:02:06.009
Note: if you are reinstalling SWAMI, you will
be prompted to uninstall the current version

00:02:06.009 --> 00:02:08.319
prior to installing a new version.

00:02:08.319 --> 00:02:11.530
If you receive this prompt just tap "OK".

00:02:11.530 --> 00:02:15.650
You will see the "successful" message once
the installation is complete.

00:02:15.650 --> 00:02:21.750
Before you use SWAMI you need to copy the
configuration files to the PDA.

00:02:21.750 --> 00:02:27.810
Your PDA should still be connected, if it
is not, then reconnect the PDA to your computer.

00:02:27.810 --> 00:02:33.600
Once connected you will see the PDA when you
open Windows Explorer.

00:02:33.600 --> 00:02:38.540
Expand the PDA so that you see the SWAMI folder
by clicking on the PDA, clicking on the root

00:02:38.540 --> 00:02:42.720
drive, and then Program Files.

00:02:42.720 --> 00:02:49.450
Expand your unix folder until you can see
the output from the configuration scripts.

00:02:49.450 --> 00:02:55.900
Now copy the SiteDefaults folder, the Ratings
folder, your stations.txt file, and your meters.txt

00:02:55.900 --> 00:03:00.450
file to the PDA.

00:03:00.450 --> 00:03:05.150
You are now ready to run SWAMI.

00:03:05.150 --> 00:03:10.400
Guidance and training on the use of SWAMI
can be found in the accompanying videos.

00:03:10.400 --> 00:03:14.730
If you have questions regarding this process,
please contact the SWAMI help group at the

00:03:14.730 --> 00:03:19.180
